Summer Reading for all ages!
There are 3 age-appropriate ways to reward reading this summer.

Family Read to Me-
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
For families where children are not yet reading on their own.
To register visit the library and sign up with Jessica or Beth.
You will receive a starter kit which contains reading check lists, bookmark, sticker, instructions. For each book read, check off a box.
Bring completed pages and your family will be entered into a raffle which will be awarded at the end of the summer.
For Children reading on their own
Kindergarten through 2nd grade (as of Sept 2023).
To register: visit the Children's Room during library hours.
You will receive a log-in folder, bookmark, sticker, and instructions.
Read books, do activities and more which are listed on the card.
When you visit the library each week, bring your log to receive a weekly reading incentive (provided by Friends of Somers Library).
You can still challenge yourself to read 1,000 pages!
1,000 page readers will receive a small prize and are entered into a raffle at the end of the summer.

June 22nd to record your books and the number of pages read.
For every 250 pages read, you will receive an incentive- courtesy of the SIS PTA
~maximum 4 (four) prizes.

Summer Reading for Children entering Grades 3 to 5 in September 2023* *You will need your Somers Library card to sign up for this program. -To Sign Up for the Summer Reading Program: 1. Go to www.somerslibrary.org 2. Click on the ‘Children’s’ Tab 3. Click on the ‘Summer Reading’ Tab 4. Scroll down to find the 'All Together Now' Summer Reading Program 5. Click on the picture that says Summer Reading ‘Grades 3-5 Link to Readsquared and click the ‘All Together Now’ picture. 6. Click the ‘Register’ button. 7. Select ‘Entering Grades 3-5’ button. Then click ‘Continue’. 8. Complete the registration form and click ‘Continue’. We suggest that your first name be your user name and choose a password that is easy to remember. 9. This will bring you to your Welcome page. Click on the ‘Enter Activity’ button to post your reviews. 10. Download the free ReadSquared App (select Somers (NY) Library to record your reading. To Post Reviews- beginning June 22 ~ up until August 19, 2023: 1. When you open up the Summer Reading page, enter your Somers Library card #, and the password you created. 2. Click ‘Enter Activity’ to post your reviews. 3. Include # pages read, title, author, rating and a short review- what did you like about the book; who was your favorite character, etc. Reviews should include your thoughts about each book you post. 4. Click ‘submit’ button. 5. For every 250 pages/points, you will receive a virtual ‘badge’ which will enable you to receive a prize. (Prizes are generously supplied by the SIS PTA). Visit the Somers Library and come to the Children's Room to pick up your prizes.. There is a maximum 4 (four) prizes. Everyone who reads 1,000 pages is entered into a raffle for gift cards (to be awarded in September 2023). Happy reading! |
